Objet: Sharing Experiences : Invitation to the Smart Africa Internet Governance Working Group Brainstorming Meeting on the sidelines of the ICANN80 forum in Kigali on 10th June 2024
Dear,
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) have selected Kigali, Rwanda to host ICANN80 Policies forum, which will be held from 10th to 13th June 2024 at Kigali Convention Centre.
Smart Africa’s Internet Governance project led by the government of Burkina Faso and co-chaired by the government of Benin has defined a vision and an approach for setting up a working group and starting to develop a continental blueprint to address the major issues linked to Africa's asserted sovereignty.
To realize this vision and to set up the working group, I am pleased to invite your organization to participate in the Smart Africa Internet Governance working group brainstorming workshop in the margins of ICANN80 Forum.
Date : June 10th, 2024 from 09:00 to 12:00 AM UTC+2, At four Points by Sheraton Kigali
Details on the venue (Room) and other necessary logistics will be shared in the coming days.
This organized working session will, on one hand, raise awareness among participants about Smart Africa's and others key organisations vision regarding Internet governance, and policy harmonization across the continent. And on the other hand, it will engage in discussions to define a roadmap for developing and implementing a continental internet governance blueprint while addressing all current issues. Furthermore, it will lay the foundation for new collaboration mechanisms and a unified approach to resource sharing.
We would be honored to have you representing your organization as a speaker to present your organization's vision of Internet governance and have your throughs on the Smart Africa Internet Governance project.
Until the official letter is sent to your organization, feel free to share any questions or guidance that could support the preparation of your presentation.
Attached is a summary conceptual note awaiting the final agenda, which will be based on your confirmations.
We look forward to your participation
Kind regards,
Rodrigue GUIGUEMDE / Smart Africa Community of Practices and Content Developpement advisor.
