Subject: [Excom] Secretariat Updates

Dear EXCOM,

As we prepare for ICANN 87, i would like to share some updates from the 
Secretariat

1. AFTLD Smart Africa Engagement in Bali , Indonesia

We have been engaging Smart Africa and are planning to have a meeting 
during the ICANN Annual General Meeting in Bali Indonesia. The 
Secretariat will mobilize EXCOM members that will be present and 
available to engage with Smart Africa to attend the meeting. During the 
meeting we are looking for an outcome that will provide a Capacity 
Development opportunity for members.


2. AFTLD Smart Africa Engagement in Accra Ghana

  Smart Africa has also requested for AFTLDs support in its high level 
engagement during the Africa Internet Governance Forum where their 
continental blueprint for Internet Governance will be discussed. During 
our last meeting we had requested if there will be any support for AFTLD 
EXCOM to attend the meeting in Accra. We are likely to get this feeback 
during our engagement in Bali Indonesia. There is a possibility i may 
get support to attend the Africa Internet Governance Forum in Accra and 
if this is the case, i will be available alongside any other EXCOM 
member present to engage Smart Africa.

3. AFTLD Constitution review

The working group has made significant progress reviewing the 
Constitution. The Chair of the committee requested for time to add some 
input with respect to recognition of online meetings. The Secretariat 
has requested for a meeting with him to finalize the draft zero and 
forwad it to the EXCOM for further input. We will share the draft Zero 
before the onset of the ICANN meeting.

4. Development of the Online Repository

The developement of the online repository has been going on and will be 
complete by the time the ICANN meeting commences.

5. New Membership request

Djibouti has requested to join AFTLD as a formal member. The Secretariat 
has shared the membership form. Once the form is filled an Invoice will 
be issued for the membership fee to be paid.

This is noted. I will be in Bali. Should there be any other EXCOM member 
traveling kindly advise so that i can include the engagements with Smart 
Africa and any other partners in your calendar. I am also hoping that i 
will be in Accra for the Africa IGF.
