Dear Barrack and Joel,
Thank you very much for the discussion this afternoon and for your commitment to supporting Smart Africa’s Internet Governance initiatives, particularly the ongoing process to establish and operationalize CAIGA.
As promised, please find attached a short overview of CAIGA, together with the summary note for the session planned in Accra during the upcoming Africa Internet Governance Forum (Draft V0).
As discussed, your support would be particularly valuable in shaping and operationalizing the relevant thematic workstreams, including those related to domain names and ccTLDs. Our intention is to build CAIGA’s thematic structure around existing expertise and initiatives, working closely with the key African and international institutions already delivering substantive work in these areas.
This approach is intended to ensure that CAIGA remains practical, complementary and implementation-oriented, while strengthening coordination, knowledge exchange and capacity across the continent without duplicating existing mandates.
I will also keep you informed of the upcoming process to launch the related learning pathways under WARDIP SOP1, as this could provide an additional opportunity to align capacity-building efforts with the thematic priorities being developed under CAIGA.
We would therefore welcome your continued engagement as we refine the thematic framework and identify concrete areas for collaboration.
