Dear GM
Thank you for the update.
Will we have sufficient funds to cater for all participants?
Does ICANN view their inability to cater to this contractual obligation as a breach or non-performance, and how will it remedy it? I ask this because they would have put us to terms if we could not meet our contractual obligations.
Thank you
Regards
Molehe

Dear EXCOM,
On Wednesday 26th June at 13 UTC i had a call with Mariana Marinho the Public Responsibility Director at ICANN under whose ambit the Coalition for a Digital Africa Project falls. The objective of the call was to ensure alignment in so far as Financial requests for the coalition for a Digital Africa are concerned. The following was discussed:
1. The need for a contract extension for the Coalition for a Digital Africa Contract considering the fact that the contract comes to an end in June 2024 yet we have just started the projects activities. Mariana is following up on the contract internally.
2. We also discussed payments for Travel and Accommodation for Coalition for a Digital Africa participants. As per the contract ICANN is supposed to cater for the costs of Travel, Daily Subsistence Allowance and accommodation for the participants. However due to the limited time Mariana requested that we cover accommodation and seek reimbursement from ICANN.
3. Review of the Coalition for a Digital Africa Project. Mariana proposed a midterm review to confirm whether we are on track with the project. Fortunately Prof Idrissa has proposed the same within AFTLD. I informed Mariana that we will share feedback after our internal meeting.
In conclusion , Mariana also proposed consideration based on the outcome of the current phase for the project to be extended to cover other countries.
Thank you
Best Regards
