Dear Colleagues ,
Many thanks for the telephone conversation that we had yesterday. AFTLD
and ICANN are pleased to inform you that you have been selected to
participate in the Country Code Top-Level Domain Registries (ccTLD)
Track for the Coalition for Digital Africa (CDA).
Background
The Capacity Development for (ccTLDs) in Africa project is under the
Coalition for Digital Africa and ITU-D Partner2Connect Digital Coalition
(P2C), partners namely ICANN, AfTLD, the International Telecommunication
Union (ITU), the Association Française de Nommage Internet en
Coopération (Afnic), Network Startup Resource Center (NSRC) and LusNIC,
Association of the portuguese speaking ccTLD’s (mostly based in Africa).
Project Purpose
The purpose of the project is to enhance the capacity of ccTLD
registries to support growth of the digital economy in their countries.
The project will focus on capacity development in Domain Name System
(DNS) businesses and ccTLDs, supporting security in DNS infrastructure
in Africa, providing an engagement platform for national stakeholders
such as governments, private sector, academia, and civil society.
Project ObjectivesIdentity needs of ccTLD operators in collaboration
with relevant stakeholders such as governments, regulators, registrars,
and registrants. Assist governments, regulators, and selected ccTLD
registries in the development of growth strategies that includes
development of partnerships and networks of national registrars.Assist
ccTLD operators to develop capacity development objectives and plans
aligned with the national strategyOffer tailored capacity-development
activities led by industry experts through online courses, hands-on
workshops, webinars, peer exchanges, and learning-by-doing activities.
We would like to invite you to our first webinar on 14th February 2024
13:00 to 14:30 UTC. Interpretation will be provided in English and
French. We would like to request you to prepare a brief 5-minute
presentation on the current state of your ccTLD which will be presented
during a tour de table. Below please find the program
