Background<br>

This year, the Africa DNS Forum, a journey that started in 2013, turns <br>
10 years old. It has been a decade of mixed results, great insights, <br>
challenges, and opportunities. We are confident of the tremendous <br>
success witnessed in the industry and the opportunities that abound <br>
considering the DNS landscape in Africa which could not have been <br>
achieved without the support of various actors within and beyond the <br>
African continent. One of the objectives of the forum inception is to <br>
recognize, reward, appreciate and acknowledge excellence in the Africa <br>
DNS Marketplace. This would be by establishing a well thought out and <br>
transparent criteria for selecting deserving individual and <br>
institutional players who have made significant contribution to the <br>
overall growth and development of the Africa DNS Industry and <br>
marketplace.<br>

Categories of the Awards<br>
<br>
<br>
There will be two categories of awards during this 10th Africa DNS Forum<br>
<br>
Recognition and Acknowledgement Award (Ten in total): This award will <br>
target institutions and / or individuals who were outstanding in <br>
contributing to the development of the DNS industry in Africa; Could be <br>
organizers of the DNS Forum or any other events that have contributed to <br>
DNS development in Africa.<br>
Africa DNS Excellence Award: (Two in total) to be offered to one <br>
institution and one individual who have been demonstrated being <br>
innovative and successful in maintaining a resilient and sustainable <br>
development of the DNS industry in Africa. Target institutions could <br>
include but not limited to registries, registrars, registrants, ISPs, or <br>
research institutions. This would be an annual award going forward.<br>

Selection Criteria<br>
<br>
The Ideal candidates may be organizations or Individuals that meet some <br>
of most of the below properties.<br>
Developing capacity-building programs that positively influenced African <br>
DNS landscape<br>
Past Hosts for Africa DNS Forums<br>
Consistent sponsors of Africa DNS Forum over the years<br>
Establishment and Promotion of National DNS Fora Across Africa<br>
Championing innovative solutions to improve the African DNS Marketplace<br>
Individuals should be of African nationality<br>
Promoting Research in the Africa DNS Market Place<br>
Institutions / organizations headquartered in Africa<br>

Selection Panel<br>
<br>
A community based review panel of eminent personalities in the domain <br>
name ecosystem will consider the nominations in light of the criteria <br>
and recommend a short list of nominees for each category to the <br>
organizing partners of the Africa DNS Forum for consideration and <br>
adoption.<br>
<br>
The members of the selection panel include:<br>

The panel shall select their own chair and agree on working methods, and <br>
the secretariat of the Africa DNS forum would offer any necessary <br>
support to the panel to ensure they execute their work within the <br>
required timelines.<br>

Timelines<br>
The call for nominations shall be publicly published online in the <br>
Africa DNS website: www.dnsforum.africa and potential nominees and <br>
interested candidates requested to send their nominations via email to <br>
awards@dnsforum.africa. The following is a proposed timeline of <br>
activities:<br>
Call for Nominations published online by Sept 12, 2022<br>
Deadline for receiving nominations is Sept 19, 2022<br>
Deadline for Consideration and Evaluation of Nominations Sept 23, 2022<br>
Selected Nominees are submitted to the Secretariat by Sept 26, 2022.<br>
The recipients will be officially unveiled during the Africa DNS Forum <br>
Gala on October 5, 2022.<br>
