Dear all,

Heads-up: IANA Naming Function Review Team Webinar and ccNSO call for
EoI

The ccNSO will shortly launch a call for Expression of Interest (EoI)
for 3 members to serve on the second IANA Naming Function Review Team
(IFRT).

For those of you who are interested in serving on the IFRT, we will
organize two (identical) webinars. During the webinar the following
topics will be discussed:

  - Background and need for the IANA Naming Function Review Team and
its scope

  - What to expect if you serve on the second Review Team, including
time commitment. The expectation is that the IFRT will commence its work
by September 2023 and continue for approximately 12 to 18 months.

  - Experience shared by members of the 1st IANA Naming Function
Review Team

  The webinars are scheduled for:

  · Webinar 1: 12 April 2023| 07.00 UTC

  · Webinar 2: 12 April 2023| 19.00 UTC

*** Details on how to join will be sent in a separate email.

Both webinars will be recorded, and recordings will be posted here [1].

About the IFR

The IFR is an accountability mechanism required by ICANN’s Bylaws to
ensure that Public Technical Identifiers (PTI) meets the needs and
expectations of its naming customers. The IFR team is mandated to review
PTI's performance of the IANA naming function against the requirements
set forth in the IANA Naming Function Contract and the IANA Naming
Function Statement of Work. An important distinction is that the IFR is
not an ICANN Organizational or Specific review, and it is not a
replacement for the work of the Customer Standing Committee (CSC).

Composition of the review team

According to the ICANN Bylaws the ccNSO Council is expected to appoint
three (3) of the 15 representatives and liaisons. These three ccNSO
appointed representatives are expected to be associated with ccTLD
Managers. The ccTLD Manager is not required to be a ccNSO member.

One of the ccNSO appointed representatives is also expected to be one of
the co-chairs.

Further details, for example on the candidate requirements, will be
included in the call for expression of interest and can be found in
section 18 of the ICANN Bylaws
(https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/governance/bylaws-en/#article18)

Next Steps

The ccNSO secretariat will send out a call for Expression of Interest
(EoI). Based on the EoI the ccNSO Council will then select the 3
candidates (in accordance with section 6.1 and 8 of the relevant ccNSO
Guideline
https://ccnso.icann.org/sites/default/files/field-attached/guidelines-ccnso-appointees-version-1-procedures-22mar21-en.pdf
[2]). ICANN org will be informed accordingly of the ccNSO appointment. .

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Claudia Ruiz
